In this excerpt from the film, we listen to Khyentse Yangsi’s personal reflection on a remarkable event – his enthronement at age four in front of an audience of thousands, in Bodanath, Nepal. Equally remarkable is the young boy’s prescience, humility and humor in the face of this momentous event. The clip includes comments from his mother, Dechen, who throughout the film observes the entire process of his training with a bittersweetness.

rubin brandingDirector Mark Elliott will introduce Yangsi for three screenings at the Rubin Museum of Art, December 8, 2012. These New York City screenings are a wonderful opportunity for a wider audience to experience the beautiful scenery and intimate journey of “Yangsi”. The clip below, taken from a sequence about his early training in Bhutan, captures some of the magical quality of the Yangsi’s world.

Screenings on December 8th are at 12pm, 3pm and 6pm. Mark will also take questions afterwards.
